Error message when adding a new post
Hi,
When I try to add a "news / post" entry I get the message "There has been 1 error. Please amend the highlighted fields as explained.". There are no fields highlighted and no explanations provided.
I have no "special" characters in the title or article or in the text - is this a variation on other updating problems?
What was wrong with "blogs"? Why news and post ? and why is the new editor so utterly useless? I also notice that a lot of formatting has been removed from previous blog posts - making them look really horrible - thanks for that.
Unhappy with a lot of the new tradespace site (very un-intuitive and so many pointless steps to do the simplest thing) and from doing Google searches you've destroyed the links and doubtless the ranking created by the last two years of updating blogs - a truly great way to help businesses using your site .

Inappropriate?I've had that one too. It seemed to be when you wanted to add a new topic on your forum.
I got round this by creating the topic, then adding a comment.
So...
Try to fill in the bare minimum, save, then go back.
Might work!

If the problem the editor claims to have was highlighted it might help.
Far too many bugs for this system to have been unleashed on the world.

Inappropriate?Well, I think the issue may be the number of characters (in total) in the item being entered. This relates to the html character count, rather than the visible characters (the lack of an html button in this version of the text editor is no help). I noticed this when trying to add an url link to an item which had previously been ok.
What would be useful, is if an the error message said something useful like "too long, please amend and shorten".
Clearly my news has to be much briefer in this tradespace version, at least Twitter http://twitter.com/holidaydealsuk has given me practice at it .

There does appear to be an issue with character limits in general - ie the About Us section has a character limit of 2000, so if you've filled this up with a large amount of text, or pasted text from word (which will insert a lot of invisible characters and formatting such as carriage line breaks etc) - then try to update your Home Page welcome section you may find that you're not able to do so.
It's always worthwhile if you are pasting from other applications that you place it into a text editor (such as Notepad) first, then copy them into Tradespace to help minimise this problem.

It would be helpful if a useful error message was given by the system indicating what the problem actually is, rather than having to guess - why on earth does it let you enter too much text and then throw up an anonymous error?
The formatting is also quite horrible in the new tradespace text editor and I have to re-edit after entering (more wasted time). I don't have this problem on other blogs / websites.

Thanks for the feedback - I was merely acknowledging the issue and providing guidance as to a way round the problem until it's fixed at a platform level. I agree the widget should provide more input as to why errors are occurring and will feed this back to the developers as an item that they should look to include on their next coding cycle.
