I cannot upload my "Tradespace header image" it just offers to change my logo image

Inappropriate?What size image are you using? – physical size and pixel size.
990 x 400 pixels is recommended max 5mb.
Also, I am assuming you found the upload link in "Change profile settings"?
Not an obvious place.

I am on a Macintosh os x 10.4
When I go to upload an image for the Header it just shows a small rectangular portrait space like the logo area

I did try uploading an image 990x440 pixels at 72dpi and it said that the image was too small! Very creaky ;)

Inappropriate?Hmmm? Problem is there's too much going wrong here to have a sensible stab at a fix.
Sounds like you are doing everything correctly.
Just one thought, it would'nt be a CMYK graphic would it?

YAH! I have managed to upload my background image... but could it be known that the image must not be 990x440 in pixels at 72ppi (as is the norm for web usage) as the uploader says that the image is too small???
