Making Google Analytics work effectively
I have a Google Analytics account already - how do I make sure that my Tradespace account will get reported within my account.
Google give some html code to insert - presumably that's what BTTradspace will do, but how will I knwo the connection has been made, because you don't know my Analytics details.
Thanks

Inappropriate?Hello John,
After the launch of the new BT Tradespace site you will find a Google Analytics module on your admin dashboard. A button on this module will take you to a page where you can enter the Web property ID that Google creates when you add a new profile. Once you've entered the ID and saved it the Google Analytics code will automatically be added to your Tradespace profile.
You can read more about the Web property ID at http://www.google.com/support/googlea...
Here's a screen grab of where you'll see it once you add your Tradespace profile to your Google Analytics account:
-
Inappropriate? Thanks, Mike - that sounds just fine. I'll try it next week sometime, and post back with my experiences.
Regards
John
I’m delighted with the quick response! I'll see next week if it works...

Not certain yet when the new version will be launched, but looks like it will be worth waiting for.

Inappropriate?Hello John,
The new site isn't live yet but you should get a notification from us when it is and you'll be able to try out the new functionality.

Inappropriate?I have a code in the format UA-xxxxxxx-x but Bt tradespace won't accept the code - what am I doing wrong?
I’m confused
-
Inappropriate?Hi there
I'm so sorry you are experiencing problems with your code. This is a known issue that we are working very hard to resolve.
I will post an update here as soon as I have some news.
In the meantime please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this is causing you.
Kindest regards
Emma

I’m HAPPY

Inappropriate?Hi Everyone,
I'm assuming you've followed the instructions <href>here and are still getting the error messages? What error messages are you receiving? If you could post a screenshot of the error we'll take a look further.
Thanks!
Brian. -
Inappropriate?Hi Brian,
It just won't accept the Google code as per my original posting above.
I don't know how to post a screenshot !
BTW - I use Firefox, could that be a problem?
Rgds
Kevin
I’m still frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Brian,
The error message says :"Please enter your Google ID code to set up statistics for your Tradespace." highlighted in red / pink. Followed by a box which says "Please enter a valid Google analytics ID".
The valid code has been entered (and re-entered and re-entered)! (we successfully use google analytics on various OTHER websites).
Please sort this out.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Hi There,
Thanks for the responses:
@Kevin - it shouldn't be a firefox problem (I use it myself) but will investigate with other browsers to see if it sorts itself out.
@Posey's Place - thank you - i'll see if I can replicate the same issue here and will feedback anything I may find.
Thanks!
Brian. -
Inappropriate? As Posy's Place described the problem, I have exactly the same.
Below is a screen shot (this customer service/feedback site doesn't seem to like uploaded images of any size let alone the 2Mbytes it says is OK) on a link to my Google picasa web album (this also appears to break despite the comment box showing 'some HTML allowed'
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Has anyone tried creating a new web profile within google analytics and used the new analytics code it generates (rather using an existing code for another website profile that you have already setup)
It could be that you're using a code that's assigned to a different domain profile within your analytics account.
Try this:
Login to Analytics and at the base of the page - click on "Add Website Profile"
Put in the URL of your BT Tradespace - eg http://myurl.bttradespace.com
Click finish
You should get a screen like the one that Mike posted above - copy this new code into your Tradespace analytics settings - does this then work or do you still get the pink error message box crop up? -
Inappropriate?Yes, have tried that, thats how I got the code for the tradespace site, still get the error. Have deleted and re-created, obtained a new google code, same error.
-
Inappropriate?Yes, I have one especially for the BtTradespace URL
-
Inappropriate?Could one of you (or both of you) post your code here to see if I can add it manually through the backend to see if that works?
-
Inappropriate?UA-9957823-3
-
Inappropriate?Thanks Guys,
I'm going to escalate this problem to our developers to investigate - i've managed to recreate the problem on both of your tradespace sites so leave it with me and i'll give you an update once our engineers have figured out what the problem is. -
Inappropriate?Google says I have inserted my tracking code correctly, but has been waiting for data for the past week. Is there something wrong or is nobody visiting my page?
-
Inappropriate?Hi There,
@Plush Painting - it can take a while for Google to pick up data - it should pick up your own visits to your site however and show them in your account - have you created a separate account just for your BT Tradespace profile or are you using an existing profile within your analytics account? If it's the latter you may find that your Tradespace data is merged with your other site data.
thanks!
Brian.
-
Thanks for the quick reply Brian. I do have a separate website profile for my Tradespace account. I did copy and re-paste the tracking code into the Tradespace analytics widget which seems to have done the job - a green tick! -
Inappropriate?Hi Brian,
We were promised some techie support to our previous questions, infact someone was going to insert our codes correctly. We're still waiting for a response, and no we're still not getting any data. I suggest you guys at BT Tradespace need to get your house in order instead of continually suggesting that it is us, the users that are at fault!
Rgds
Kevin
I’m frustrated still!
-
Inappropriate?Hi Kevin,
Let me chase up why you're account hasn't been fixed and i'll update you shortly.
Thanks!
Brian. -
Inappropriate?@Multiheat - could you retry adding your analytics code to your account? I've tried the code above in a test account and it's worked fine without any errors but I want to ensure that it works for you. If you get additional errors could you capture a screenshot and post here and i'll get our developers to look further but it looks to be working.
-
Inappropriate?Hi Kevin,
I beleive that Google stats has been sorted for your Tradespace now - can you confirm that all's well for you and this feature is working correctly?
thanks!
Brian.
-
Inappropriate?Sorry Brian - it looks as if Google Analytics is now working - many thanks for your help!
I’m pleased!
